They say the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results. [[Right?|Right?]]But even ignoring the unnecessary stigmatization of mental illness, I'm not sure I buy the old adage. I can't help but think that, in many situations, the thing being derided as "insanity" would instead be praised as "[[perseverance]]."I mean, "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again," right? If I try something - if I make an effort - and it turns out badly, should I just [[give up]]? Or should I [[try again]]?
(set: $timesTried to 1)Yeah, maybe you're right. Maybe it is "insane" to expect anything different, or anything better. Or maybe - just maybe - it's worth it to [[try again]].
Yes, I should [[try again]].
No, I should [[give up]].

And the success is all the sweeter for having been hard-fought and hard-won.
Congratulations on your perseverance!
